I have been playing with the Google Maps API to create an online version of the Burns Park disc golf course. You can see it here. Notice that there is a location error in their aerial photography. The GPS locations of the baskets and tees align properly with the vector data they provide, but not the imagery. I have a copy of this imagery and it aligns properly in the GIS. It looks like Google is using the wrong datum....
09/06/2005 - I had a chance to visit Burns Park in North Little Rock over the summer. When I arrived, there were no maps available. I spent a lot of my time trying to figure out where the course went next. Fortunately, a couple of guys took pity upon me and led me through the Blue course after I had spent an inordinate amount of time trying to figure out the Red course. Being the GIS guy that I am, I decided to map it all out. On my next trip, I brought along a GPS unit and a digital camera. I now have the course mapped out. The maps are available in PDF format by clicking here. I met with Bill Trousdale and Robbie Shaw on my last trip. They are planning to send me more data (alternate tee and basket locations) which will be added to the map as it is received. If you have suggestions, please contact me!
